Winter Series 2021/22
WAMPHRAY GLEN HILL RACE:
The Wamphray Glen Race this year, was due to Covid 19 kept low key so numbers could be kept down. Due to timber felling the route this year was slightly shorter by perhaps 0.1 of a mile. The outstanding run of the day was Lorna Hellam who if it had been the original course would have easily beaten her old course record with a time of 33:49 and finishing first female and a super 4th overall. Marie Marshal also ran well and if it hadn't been for Lorna time, she would have surely set a new course record. Roger Irving set an exceptional time in the V60 class too, coming in at 37:50. There was a great spread of food for all the runners and helpers afterwards.
Including a very generous donation of £50 from someone who couldn't make the race due his wife taking a fall the race raised just under £400 for Nyia, a young 3 year old that her family are trying to raise money to get her treatment on a rare brain tumour.
SCREEL, BENGAIRN Hill Race:
Many thanks to Craig Malcolmson for putting on a great club race at Screel/Bengairn. 24 HHRC members turned out for the race and a good atmosphere was enjoyed. Alison Banford ran a fantastic race to win the Women's race with Lorna Hellam taking 2nd and Claire Ingram 3rd. Lucy Heycock ran well to win her age class and a bonus point. David Houstan ran another great race and was actually first over the line and first again out of HHRC runners and Adam Dickie of Dumfries Running Club was overall race winner. Adam Anderson topped out the age grade results with a very strong run and picked up a bonus point winning his age class.
CAIRNSMORE Hill Race:
14 runners from HHRC head west to race in the Cairnsmore Hill race. The ladies did exceptionally well, 1st Female went to Lorna Hellam with Alison Banford in 2nd place 1st FV40 and Claire Ingram in 4th Female. David Houston ran well to 5th place overall, first out of the HHRC members, Kevin Plummer came in 9th place and 1st MV50.
Tinto Hill Race:
11 runners from HHRC took part in the race, Adam Park was first out of the HHRC members with an impressive 14th overall. Rory Longmore gained a bonus point with a great run to win in the MV60 class and Alison Banford came 3rd in the FV40 class. Rory just topped the age grade adjusted results with Kevin Plummer just behind.
